What is the difference between COB packaging and traditional SMD LED strips?
The COB packaging process is not much different from the production process of SMD LED lights, but COB packaging is more efficient in dispensing, separation, segmentation and packaging. Compared with traditional SMD, COB packaging can save 5% of any and material costs. So, compared with traditional packaging technology, what are the advantages of COB technology?
1. High packaging efficiency and cost saving
The COB packaging process is not much different from the SMD LED lamp production process, but COB packaging is much more efficient in dispensing, separation, splitting and packaging, and can save 5% of any and material costs compared with traditional SMD.
2. Advantages of low thermal resistance
The system thermal resistance structure of traditional SMD packaging is: chip - die bonding adhesive - solder - solder paste - copper foil - insulation layer - aluminum. The system thermal resistance of COB packaging is: chip-die die glue-aluminum. The system thermal resistance of COB packaging is much lower than that of traditional SMD packaging, so the service life of COB packaged LED lamps is greatly extended.
3. Light quality advantage
The traditional SMD package is to paste multiple discrete devices on the PCB board in the form of SMD. As a light source component for LED applications, there are problems such as light concentration, glare and ghosting. COB package is an integrated package and a surface light source with a large viewing angle, easy adjustment, and reduced light refraction loss.
The traditional SMD packaging method is to attach some different devices to the PCB board to form LED light source components. COB light source does not have the above problems. It is a surface light source with a large viewing angle, easy to adjust the angle, and reduces the loss of light due to refraction.
4. Application advantages
COB light source is very convenient to apply and can be directly applied to lamps without other processes. The traditional SMD packaged light source needs to be SMD first and then fixed on the PCB board through reflow soldering. It is not as convenient as COB in application.
