10 main factors affecting the price of LED light strips

2024/04led strip light source

LED light strips are used more and more widely, so many friends encounter difficulties in choosing LED light strips in daily use. Some LED light strips are very expensive, and some are very cheap. So what are the reasons between them? What about such a big gap?

Specifications and dimensions of LED lamp beads

LEDs of different sizes have different prices. For example, the prices of common 2835LED and 3535LED are quite different; while the prices of LEDs with 2835 and 5050 specifications are even more different.

2.Chips used in LED light strips

There are many types of LED chips, including domestic and imported chips. Different chip models have very different prices. What specific chip is used? What effect is to be achieved? Be aware before buying.

3.LED packaging

LED lamp packaging is divided into resin packaging and silicone packaging. Resin encapsulation is cheaper. Silicone encapsulation has better heat dissipation performance, so the price of silicone encapsulation is slightly more expensive than resin encapsulation.

4. LED color consistency

At present, there are many packaging factories in China. There are tens of thousands of companies large and small, and of course there are strong and weak ones. There are many small packaging factories that do not have spectroscopic and color separation machines, so they either do not do spectroscopic and color separation, or they send out the products outsourced, which makes it difficult to guarantee quality. LEDs that have not been separated by light and color have poor color consistency, and the effect after being installed on an LED light strip and lit is not that good, so the price difference is relatively large.

5.LED welding effect

There are two types of assembly of LED light strips: manual welding and machine welding. Manual welding is to use a soldering iron and use a more primitive method to weld. The products produced by this method of operation have ugly appearance (solder joints are inconsistent in size) and have poor electrostatic protection measures. Many LED chips are broken down by static electricity, causing the LED chips to dim or not light up when powered on. Machine welding uses reflow soldering, and the machine welding is obviously different. Not only does the product after welding have a beautiful appearance (the solder joints are consistent in size, smooth, no flux residue, and the LED package is intact), but the chip will not be burned by static electricity. At the same time, the LED position and direction are more beautiful. This can be seen directly from the appearance. Therefore, different welding methods will also affect the selling price of the light strip.

6.FPC material

FPC is divided into two types: rolled copper and coated copper. Copper-clad laminates are cheaper, and rolled copper is more expensive. The pads of copper-clad boards tend to fall off when bent, but rolled copper does not. The specific material used for FPC depends on the promoter's decision based on the use environment.

7. Has FPC passed environmental certification and UL certification? Whether LED has patents, etc.

Certified products have undergone authoritative testing, and of course their quality is more guaranteed. Therefore, certified and patented products are more expensive, while uncertified and patented products are correspondingly cheaper.

8.LED brightness

LEDs with different brightness have different prices. There is a huge price difference between ordinary brightness and high brightness LEDs. Therefore, when purchasing, you must clearly know what kind of brightness you need, so that you can accurately position your product.

9.LED color

The colors are different. Prices are different. Red and green colors are more difficult to match and perform spectroscopic color separation, so the price is higher than other colors; red, yellow, blue and other colors are easier to spectroscopically separate and have better consistency, so the price is slightly cheaper. Special colors such as purple, brown, etc. are more expensive due to color matching.

10. Protection level

The price corresponding to different protection levels will also be different. Generally, the higher the IP level, the higher the product price will be.
