LED strip lights actually include two types: LED flexible strip lights and LED hard strip lights. It is best to indicate this when selecting lamps. 01.Basic knowledge of LED strip lights

1. The difference between LED soft strip lights and hard strip lights:

LED flexible strip light: Use soft FPC as assembly circuit board, which can be bent, folded, and rolled at will.

Advantages: The shape can be curved and arc-shaped, and various patterns can be combined arbitrarily. Suitable for irregular places and small spaces.

Disadvantages: Compared with hard strip lights, they are more inconvenient to install and can easily fall off if not installed properly.

LED hard strip light: PCB board is used as the assembled circuit board and cannot be bent at will.

Advantages: easier to fix and more convenient to install;

Disadvantages: cannot be bent at will, suitable for regular places.

2. The lighting principle of LED soft strip light:

LED flexible strip lights are made by welding LED lamp beads onto strip-shaped flexible circuit boards. LED lamp beads emit light with a lighting angle of 120 degrees. Moreover, the distance between the lamp beads is about ten millimeters, and the arrangement is relatively dense. It feels like a strip of light glowing.

3.LED soft strip light classification:

The strip light does not have a model number. But the glowing LED lamp beads will be different. Commonly used in landscapes are 3528 strip lights and 5050 strip lights.

3528 strip light: indicates the length of LED lamp beads is 3.5mm and the width is 2.8mm. Each lamp bead of the 3528 strip light has an LED chip.

5050 strip light: Indicates that the length of the LED lamp bead is 5.0mm and the width is 5.0mm. Each lamp bead of the 5050 strip light has three LED chips.

Difference: The lamp beads of the 5050 strip light are larger than those of the 3528. The power and brightness of the 5050 lamp with the same number of lamp beads are 3 times that of the 3528.

4. Size of LED flexible strip light.

Type 3528 LED flexible strip light: general width 8 mm, thickness 4 mm.

Type 5050 LED flexible strip light: generally 10 mm in width and 4 mm in thickness.

The length can be cut or spliced as needed.

02. Selection of LED flexible strip lights

1. Power of LED soft strip light:

It is mainly related to the number of LED lamp beads per meter of the strip light. The lamp beads of type 5050 are three times that of type 3528. The figure below indicates the relationship between the number of common lamp beads and power. Per meter.

2. Voltage of LED flexible strip light:

Outdoors, people may touch it to avoid safety risks. Choose 12V low voltage strip lights in the pool.

Choose 12V or 24V low-voltage strip lights for landscape walls, steps, flower ponds, etc.

3. LED soft strip light waterproof grade:

The waterproof grade is IP65 or above for outdoor use, and IP68 for pool use.

4. LED strip color:

The luminous colors of LED strip lights include red, yellow, blue, green, pure white, warm white and other single-color lights, as well as colorful changes. The landscape is generally dominated by 3000K warm white light, creating a warm atmosphere.

03.Installation of LED strip lights

LED strip lights, no light visible, no main light design. In the early stage, reserve the installation slot (the size of the installation slot and the impact of the position of the strip light on the effect will be written separately in the future) to hide the strip light.

1. Indoor installation:

There is self-adhesive 3M double-sided tape on the back of the LED strip light. When installing, you can directly peel off the sticker on the surface of the 3M double-sided tape, then fix the strip light where it needs to be installed and press it flat with your hands.

2. Outdoor installation:

Since outdoor installation will be exposed to wind and rain, if 3M glue is used to fix it, the 3M adhesive will reduce its adhesiveness over time and cause the LED strip light to fall off. Therefore, buckles are often used for outdoor installation.
